With the Christmas party season in full swing, world-famous British designer Julien Macdonald shared with Kelly his top tips on festive fashion and all things sparkle this Christmas…
In 2001, Julien was named British Fashion Designer of the Year and appointed as successor to Alexander McQueen as Creative Director of the renowned French fashion house Givenchy. In 2006, he was awarded an Order of the British Empire for his services to the fashion industry. As well as a judge for BINTM, Julien represents the fashion opinion for BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing.
What are your top trends for the upcoming Christmas party season?
There are two key trends this festive season, Metallics & Red! Metallics are perfect for adding a shimmer to your outfit but why not indulge in a bit of glamour with a show stopping red dress.
As a BINTM Judge, you know a thing or two about glamour. What would be your tips for how to be look fabulous at the office Christmas party?
This Christmas, why not dress up as Mrs Christmas or Santa for your party or even a Cheeky Reindeer? This is the time of year to have fun with your Christmas partywear and go all out!
Christmas is definitely the season for celebration, how will you be keeping festive this year?
London is a wonderful city at this time of year. I especially love going for the first skate at Somerset House or tasting seasonal treats at Hyde Park’s Winter Wonderland! It is always great to go for a really festive stroll around Peterson Nurseries too.
You’ve been the fashion opinion for Strictly this year, which contestant do you feel has had the most ‘strictly sparkle’?
All of the contestants are amazing this year it’s hard to choose! I have a few favourites such as Lisa Riley, Lewis Smith and the fabulous Denise Van Outen. They all have a love for sparkle and look fabulous when they are moving around the strictly dance floor.
Speaking of sparkle, what would be your tips for creating a Christmas sparkle in your home?
A top tip for achieving a Christmas sparkle at home is to invest in some crystal chandeliers or Swarovski crystal Christmas decorations. They bring a special spark to any tree during this season. I love to have scented candles around the house to create a real festive atmosphere. If you are on a budget, why not just cover the whole house in glitter, that way you really will be sparkling!
